Fruitful Horizons Empowerment (Pty) Ltd is a proudly South African book publishing company that was registered in 2023. Since then, we have published seven books — three by our founder and four by other talented authors. We are passionate about helping upcoming writers bring their stories and ideas to life.

Our goal is to support new authors through every step of their publishing journey. We help with writing, editing, designing, and printing their books. We believe that everyone has a story worth sharing, and we are here to make those stories shine.

At Fruitful Horizons, we also want to make a positive difference in our community. We aim to create jobs for young, skilled South Africans who are looking for work. We believe that the publishing world has space for new voices and fresh talent — both in writing and in business.

Jonathan Ball Publishers is the leading publisher and distributor of English consumer books in South Africa and acts as agents for British and American publishers. In addition, the Independent division represents a number of academic, educational and independent publishers. We publish under the imprints Jonathan Ball, Sunbird, Delta and AD Donker.

Founded by Heleen Malherbe in July 2017, Malherbe Publishers emerged from a personal mission to support poets and writers in bringing their visions to reality. Heleen, driven by a lifetime of literary passion and the wisdom of persistence, sought to create a nurturing space for writers navigating the challenging landscape between mainstream and self-publishing.

From the start, we embraced the philosophy of steady, deliberate growth. Inspired by the words of Josiah G. Holland, “There is no shortcut to anything of value. One thing at a time, one day at a time. What develops slowly has a greater chance of enduring,” we built a foundation of trust and excellence.

Today, Malherbe Publishers is proud to support over 200 writers and publish nearly 800 books. Our commitment extends beyond publishing; we provide a comprehensive support network for writers and poets in both Afrikaans and English, ensuring access to essential resources at reasonable costs. With the establishment of Malherbe Printers, we also offer on-demand printing, maintaining the highest standards of quality and accessibility.

Vindigo Press is a Cape Town based niche imprint that specializes in identifying and launching authors from Southern Africa both locally and internationally. Our approach is to have great respect for our writers and nurture, mentor and develop them not just their writing but also their promotion and communication skills – including on social media channels, book festivals etc. We have just run a nationwide short story competition whose finalists featured on the Richmond Literary Festival. We have published fiction (historical thrillers) and non-fiction (personal finance).
