Vacancy: Regional Manager: Western Cape & Northern Cape
Oxford University Press is looking for a Regional Manager to plan, implement, and monitor sales activities in respective Provinces to increase sales and market share. To build, lead and champion an effective and efficient sales team to overachieve and on all agreed budgets within the ethos prescribed by OUP’s brand promise.
The Regional Manager will be reporting to the National Education Manager. This post is based in Goodwood, Cape Town.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Grow Sales and market share through targeted sales activities.
- Expand adoptions of front list and backlist titles.
- Develop and implement a Teacher Workshop Plan for the region.
- Collaborate and build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
- Effective data management
- Managed budgets effectively by forecasting annual capital and operational expenses and developing cost control mechanisms.
- Recruit, train, motivate, and manage team performance, provide guidance, and support, and conduct regular performance reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant working experience
- Relevant National Diploma in Sales, Marketing or Education
- Strong business and commercial acumen
- in formulating and executing winning strategies
- Strong negotiation skills and problem solving
- Able to maintain and foster high level business relationships
- Demonstrate capacity to work across functional areas to deliver results
- Ability to manage and provide leadership to staff
- Experience in publishing environment including both print and digital

We are looking for an experienced National sales manager to develop and execute our sales strategies. A key objective will be conducting research in market trends and behaviours to inform and guide the company’s sales efforts. Communication and high-level negotiations skills are essential for this position. You will also manage a team of 6 regional sales managers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate nationwide sales teams.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales budgets.
- Research and identify new potential customers and opportunities.
- Negotiate and sign SLA with national and regional customers.
- Review marketing inadequacies and adjust plans.
- Tracking and sales data to find strengths and weaknesses.
- Networking and managing large client contracts.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a national sales manager in retail environment.

PASA bursaries available for publishing studies in 2025
The Publishing Association of South Africa is delighted to announce that it is awarding bursaries to students who are interested in pursuing publishing studies at the University of Pretoria and the University of the Witwatersrand.
PASA encourages students from diverse backgrounds to study publishing, with a view to building a career in the South African publishing industry. With the financial support of the FP&M SETA and PASA members, we are proud to support the growth of skills and diversity in our industry.
Bursaries are available for the following courses in the 2025 academic year:
• University of Pretoria | Bachelor of Information Science: Publishing Undergraduate students for their second and third years of study
• University of the Witwatersrand | Publishing Studies Honours Degree Postgraduate Honours students (full-time and part-time)
Only students who have been accepted into these designated programmes of study will be eligible for this bursary. The bursary is open to black South African students with financial need. Successful candidates will be awarded full coverage of tuition fees, as well as a living stipend.
