Publishing Services: The South African Library for the
Blind is a Schedule 3A Public Entity of the Department
of Arts and Culture, which is mandated by law to provide
a library and information service, free of charge, to blind
South Africans on a national basis and to publish books
in accessible formats to enable blind people to read. Our
current book formats are Braille, Audio and Tactile Picture
books.
Accessible audio books are created by using Daisy
software, which allows for print copy books to be
converted into audio files which can later be made
available in Braille.
